Dennis Hepler's love of wood is evident in
each piece he creates. His love of wood started 23 years ago in the Redwood Forrest.
Seeing the beautiful grain in long forgotten stumps and roots of Redwood, Buckeye, Myrtle
and others.
Over the years he moved towards custom contemporary design. His
distinctive signature is mixing woods in a simple elegant style that is guaranteed to
become an heirloom to be handed down through the generations.
Dennis willingness to adapt needs with design makes his furniture
functional art. He loves to collaborate with clients. Jon Voight designed the ABC cabinet
in the illustrated childrens book he wrote and illustrated called Fimmer, The
Other CabinetMaker. The picture is of a full size ABC cabinet built by Dennis, which
he donated to the City of Hope Pediatric Ward. He is designing a line of Fimmer
Childrens Furniture that will have the very same feel as you see in the picture.
Not only is Dennis a skilled master woodcrafter, he is an accomplished
artisan in many media including painting spacescapes, custom metal chess sets, and wood
sculpting. He is working on a series of woodworking videos called This Old Hippies
Woodshop.
He produced a program series called Painting Away the Pain for which he
won a coveted Woody Award.
He is currently producing a documentary called Why Me? Why Not?
chronicling his wife Kat's journey and survival from lung cancer.
